Tablets will not kill netbooks says Intel and Toshiba

"Netbook / laptop users are work oriented and create the vast majority of the content, while tablet users just want to consume it."
Confirmed both Toshiba and Intel Spain, during a press conference.

Both formats are growing and tablets are just in their infancy, so expect massive growth next year.

However, this growth doesnt mean that one is going to kill the other.

"Tablets will cannibalize on 10 or 15% of the netbook market, but thats pretty much it."

Each have their uses and there is good demand for both.


Toshiba is planning on launching new tablets with the successful Android, as well as netbooks / ultrathins with google's new Chrome OS and other OSs next year.

The google chrome web store is finally here.

Google plans to make web apps as easy to find and popular as Android / mobile apps.

This is awesome news for the internet and web technologies (like html5). Giving back the power to the world wide web. Think Web 3.0 :)
